Tokyo-born Minoru Ogawa is running something of a mini-empire with Sushi Capitol, Mirai and the sushi counter at the Mandarin Oriental. But, Sushi Ogawa is his namesake and the most intimate (there are just seven seats at the counter). The interior design is clean and contemporary, with warm accents of honey wood. Omakase is always the preferred manner of business here, however, be ready as it comes out at lightning speed and the litany of nigiri delivered your way may just make you vertiginous. Sashimi, often blowtorched, may include Spanish mackerel, tuna, clam or sea trout with scallions; while the nigiri follows a rhythm and flow from simple to complex.
