At km 72 of the Icefields Parkway, a road leads to Mistaya Canyon, a wonderful winding gorge carved out of the limestone. Heading northward as it skirts Mt Murchison (3,337m), you enter the North Saskatchewan River Valley where a view of the Howse Valley unfolds, before continuing beneath the sheer faces of Mt Wilson. Then a steep climb takes you to Sunwapta Pass, commanding sweeping views of the valley and, further on, Bridal Veil Falls.
