Sandwiched between towering granite cliffs over 1,000 metres high, the glacial valley of the south branch of the Kings River contrasts with the narrow gorge of the road that leads to it. From Cedar Grove onwards, the panorama widens to reveal the golden meadows that carpet the valley floor, where mule deer do not hesitate to venture.
