This Toronto outpost serves elevated Vietnamese cuisine rooted in the recipes of Nguyen Thi Thanh, the original Lunch Lady of Saigon. The restaurant channels those original flavors into a lively, neighborhood-driven dining room that’s been busy ever since it opened. Past highlights include pomelo salad loaded with crispy shallots and peanuts, garlic noodles with a slow-poached egg, and, of course, pho. A version with wagyu beef arrives steaming hot and loaded with rice noodles, oxtail, generous chunks of beef cheeks and a sizable portion of bone marrow standing upright in the center of the bowl. Finish with the Vietnamese coffee tiramisu.
