With the help of his son, Chef-owner Emeril Lagasse honors his Portuguese roots with this striking Warehouse District restaurant. Black walls and sleek light fixtures frame the sprawling space fit with private rooms, a cocktail bar, and, most fittingly, a gleaming jamón bar positioned by the glass-enclosed kitchen. Where to begin? One could make a meal out of salted cod fritters, cured cuts, and tinned fish. Portuguese classics run up and down the menu. Recent highlights include charred carrots with pine nut cream, bacalhau à brás with caviar, and paella with rabbit sausage and shrimp. Sharing is a must, and so too are the custard tarts. A wine list fit with maps, stories, and tasting notes celebrates Portuguese winemakers in the most impressive of ways.
