Time seems to have stood still in this beautiful restaurant in the bohemian neighbourhood of Metaxourgeio; and no wonder, it is housed in a mid-19th-century neoclassical mansion, where the charming courtyard, contemporary decorative elements, and 19th-century atmosphere come as a pleasant surprise. Chef Gikas Xenakis, who presents a modern take on Greek-Mediterranean cuisine, pays tribute to local, seasonal ingredients (he plays a lot with, and makes very effective use of, cheeses and fruits). Here, everything revolves around two menus that you can explore by choosing 5, 6, or 7 courses (the price depends on your choice in this respect): one called Earth & Sea, and the other, a vegetarian option, Garden & Nature. Both can be enjoyed with different wine pairings. A standout dish is ‘Crab, fennel, peach, chamomile’ as it has well-executed textures and a lot of flavour. Managed with passion and professionalism by sommelier Despina Tokalakis, the wine cellar is bursting with more than 400 labels.
